Sorry, very2 late posting of this pictures. Gomen

Well, it's not everyday you can watch a gig dedicated to BASS...while you can see guitarist wanking (the fretboard) in any jam studio.

It's the 2nd part of Artistic Series where #1 are focus on guitars (held a while ago) & the 3rd one on drums (held yesterday, i was too broke to go ). AJ of Popshuvit, Alda of Cosmic Funk Express and Nakim (one hella good seasoned sessionist) were the main highlight of the night.

AJ were supposed to be joined by the whole Popshuvit gang but Rudy (the drummer) couldn't make it due to work commitment. So a Roland Loop Station became his bandmates hahaahha~ but later on, Jimmy from Tempered Mental & Boy join in the fun. AJ weapon of choice that night were a Fender Roscoe Beck V, Roland Cube 30 amp and his Roland Loop Station

Next, Alda and the boys of CFE entertain us with their usual funk fusion stuff...nothing that i never said before and as usual, very very very very the good one! Go check 'em or u miss something that so musicially awesome. Alda stuffed the groove with his usual Warwick Streamer Standard 5-stringer, Fender Highway 1 Jazz Bass, Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive, Ibanez Bass Chorus (eh, macam kenal jer dua ketoi effect nie hihihi) and Fender 60 watter amp.

Nakeem took the centrestage after with a 1976 Fender Jazz Bass with EMG turbo (hahaha), Ampeg SVT3 Pro head & SWR 2x10 Goliath Jr cabs (semua disponsor oleh Amir hahaha). Bergegar paler otak wa cakap lu...my head became very unstable through out his playing. But the tone was so god damn good although the treble a lil bit over Later that nite, he shift over to Warwick Thumb Bass 6 stringer.

Being a very music oriented gig, my very shallow music knowledge have prevented me to know what song/piece of music they actually playing (apart from CFE, which I'm a small time, not yet hardcore fan). But then I understand the most of techniques they used & I enjoy the ryhthm, grooves and harmony that they presented that night.

The best part of the gig of course were the jam ala G3! I love the Come Together cover...I just have no word to describe how great it was. And of course, it's good to see the familiar faces of Jamtank's bassist offline and chill out with them.

I arrived back at Putrajaya around 4am...talking about bass night out!

owh demmit gig ini berlangsong time aku dah balek kampong. Thu 1-Dec-2005 06:45

The Great Singapore Trip part 2

Katong Shopping Centre - told ya it's old school
Asteroids Cyber from the inside the mall

View all 12 photos...
Day 2 - Saturday 7.00am

I woke up quite early since I realised when I looked in the atlas, Katong Shopping Center is nowhere near MRT. It's either we take a cab or bus. So I get myself rdy, woke Forza up and then while waiting for him, practice few runs again. Fast forward 1 and half hour, here we are in Paya Lebar, the nearest MRT station to the event venue. Instead of taking taxi or bus, we decided to walk. Damn, it's quite far away...but i'm kinda happy we decided that way since Forza got to see some petrol station and dogs. He said earlier that he never saw those things since arrived in Singapore **

After walking for like 30min, we arrived at Katong Shopping Center. This place looks like a smaller version of Pertama Complex...no no, make it a replica of Wilayah Complex. Very old school but nice, newer paint job though. The event venue is Asteroids Cyber, located at one of the main enterance. They have two unit of shop facing each other. It's amazing how they can fit a lot of PCs in such a small place and oh, they lock their PC inside the cabinet. So it's quite hard for pple that brings their own keyboard and stuff (such as me -_-"). The reason for this is that a while ago, somebody managed to unhook the system and steal it away...all under 1 minute when the admins went for a toilet break. Luckily a regular customer saw the incident and quickly run after the theft. Kinda ironic again...

So we proceed with registration...very easy, since all the other details have been made during pre-registration.,they just get our game nickname and our passport number. As we wait for the tourney to start, we head to the nearby shop and grab some breakfast. NFSU 2 tournament finish quite fast as there are only 4 players joining today's prelims and each match only have one race (which is kind of unfair if u ask me). Both me and Forza managed to beat our first opponent and we met each other in the finals. Then, he beat me and we laugh at each other without any particular reason. Another ironic thing...ROFL!

After the match settled, we hooked off our equipment and just lepak around...chat with people and eventually a guy from GameSync.net named Tanvir aproached us to do some interview later on. Well, the interview is actually more to a laughter fest and the real question asked is not even 10 question. We just kept on chatting about games and then laugh...that took almost 2 hours time. We bid farewell to them and then walked to the a bus station nearby to head back to Paya Lebar MRT station.

Next stop, Changi Airport. We can't decide where to eat actually, so my dehydrated brain suggested that we try Changi Airport. Why? No idea...but Changi is a nice place to see actually...see some aeroplane and of course I love their electronic cardboard flipping Departure board. Old school but still modern \""""""m/ There's nothing to eat there...their food court kinda expansive. We saw bunch of school kids studying there...really, it amazed us. So eventually, we head back to Bugis. We end up eating at this shop just below us...a halal restaurant that served nasi lemak all day long. 2nd nasi lemak in a day...** After that, we get back to the hostel and get some rest...and nap. **

Day 2 - Saturday around night time

After some rest and nap, we decide to hunt food again. This time, we decide to go to Orchird Road (without the help of the big big atlas!). But somehow, we kinda unfortunate since we arrived around 9.30pm, shops are closing down. Major bummer...so we went back to Bugis and hit Burger King. Got myself Rendang Burger...quite nice, taste like McD's Prosperity Burger than actual rendang. After dinner, we decide to take lazy stroll around Bugis, seeing buildings, people and eventually we found a cinema! Right across the road from our hostel...since we kinda have NBTD, we decide to catch a movie...got to choose between Kingdom of Heaven or The Jacket. We choose The Jacket...i think it's not yet shown in Malaysia. Cost us S$9.50, the movie is quite nice and very twisted. I want to give some spoilers but given the twisted nature of the movie, I dun even know how to spoil it. . After the movie, we stopped by 7-11 for some midnite snacks and then back to the hostel to crash.

Day 3 - Sunday around 8.00am

Uh, it's raining...quite heavy actually. It's time to pack up! We haven't bought our return ticket actually hahahah~ kinda suicidal. But we quite relieved when we checked out, the hostel owner told us not much people going to Malaysia today...they usually went abroad on Saturday. We shoot out straight to the bus station which is 300m away...the ticket for direct to KL buses cost around S$ 26.00. While waiting for our bus, we grab some breakfast and then made our final rounds at Bugis Street for some souvenirs. The heavy rain made our movement although just a short distance between Bugis area and the bus station but still, both of us dripping wet. It doesn't help also when we hop on the bus, it's freaking cold! Garrrrhhhh...

That's basicly concluded my first trip to Singapore without my family. I might be going back on June to accompany Forza (if he can sponsor me of course...nyahahaha) and do coverage of the WCG Singapore 2005 Cybercafe Prelims Finals of NFSU2 since another fella of our clan, luige also qualify to the final round. Also, I'm totally coming back, if nothing clashed in my schedule (and ample money...anybody interested to be my sponsors?) for the September's Singapore WCG National Prelims (they let foreigners take part) and November's WCG 2005 World Final.

Hop on to my Blergh http://chapree.tripod.com/blergh/ for some reflections on the trip and GameSync.net for some more pics during the event and interview.

The Great Singapore Trip part 1

Shah Alam Komuter Station
That's Sophian aka Mr. Forza

View all 16 photos...
Thursday evening - The journey begins...

from Shah Alam. My mum sent me off at the Komuter station since she are on the way to sent my sisters to tution class. Bid my farewell and then hop on to the train that arrived 10 min later. Arrived at KL Sentral in quite clueless condition since I'm too early. Nothing better to do, I went to the food court and ate some dinner. Not long after that Forza arrived and joined me. Around 10-ish, we hop on to KTM Ekspress Senandung Malam (RM 43.00 for a single trip in 2nd class bed coach) to Singapore. Forza is a bit sick so as soon KTM pple done checking tickets, he snoozed off. While me, just walk around looking for the cafeteria hoping to find interesting stuff to do. Na'ah, still NBTD and the cafe is quite a long walk, from my second class bed coach to first class cabin and through third class coach...damn! Tried to doze off but what i get is restless night...travelling at night means there's nothing to see. Finally I dozed off but around 2.00 am, I got a SMS from Albert..., what a bummer. My sleep destroyed...but then i just krrooohhhh~ happily making maps later.

Day 1 Friday - 5.30am

"Imigration card!" woke me up...apparently KTM staff already distributing the Imigration Entry card. Took it and filled it...no mood to sleep again. Not long after that, we arrived at Johor Bharu station. This is where Malaysian Immigration officer checked all the passenger passport...abord the train itself. We got to wait for quite a while for the officers to check some of the foriegn fella onboard. After that, we arrived at Woodlands checkpoint. In Singapore alrdy, wooohooo! All of us got to bring our stuff down and go through the checkpoint...damn, quite a bummer. Then, we have to board the train again...chait! Straight on to Tanjung Pagar after that. Along the short journey from Woodland to our final stop, we got acquinted with this foreign fella which I really have no idea what is his nationality (born in Brazil, educated in Germany and work in South East Asian area for more than 20 years...what the fish?). He asked me "Are you Malaysian?" and I give him the obvious answer. But he struck me with this word "You don't look like Malaysian. You look more like...Jimi Hendrix." I guess Jimi rolled in his grave when he said that. Later we discussed about the importance of knowing your roots "I have no roots...really.", Malaysians vs. Singapore..."You know what kind of girls I like? Singaporeans Malay girls...they are much open and you know...*wink*" ROFL!! and his admiration of Shah Alam (he stayed in PJ for quite a while so he knows Shah Alam) "It's a very unique city. Very fluid and harmony although sometimes the road system kinda...too many roundabouts!". Very friendly and funny guy.

Day 1 Friday - 8.30am

Fuh, finally we arrived...without further delay, we head on to Tanjung Pagar MRT station. It wasn't an easy feat since both of us are actually first timer here (excluding the trip with family, that's why ). With the help of my big, complete and comprehensive map 2005/2006 version of Singapore atlas (RM 39.90 at MPH One Utama), everything is a breeze. So we look at the route, giving a blur look around and then, we started to get our grip on. Bought ez-link card and off we go to Bugis. The Bugis Backpackers Hostel...so easy to find, it just across the road from the station. The hostel is like...right in the middle of everything. There's a shopping complex called Bugis Junction nearby, Bugis Street (Singapore equivelent to Petaling Street), KFC, BK, McDonalds and bunch of other stuff. Even the expresse bus terminal to JB, Melaka and KL is like 300m away. After we checked in, I went to McD to get some breakfast and just bring it over to hostel. Forza still sick and we pretty much rest ourselves till late afternoon.

After some much needed nap, we off to Merlion Park located somewhere near Esplanade...just to take picture with the infamous half-lion, half-mermaid statue. It's not as big as I remember...that's the start of our on foot journey. Raffles statue, Fullerton Hotel and the so durian's Theatre at the Bay among the stuff we passed by. After a short teh tarik break (this is where Forza discovered the price for a box of ciggies ROFL!), we start walking again along Esplanade towards Suntec City. A nice sea breeze and watching pple jogging, dating and kissing...a floating temple in the sea and the so enourmous Ducktour boats is kinda nice. I can hear a jazz tune in my head almost instantly. After quite a walk, we arrived at the Fountain of Wealth, the world record holder since 1998 for the biggest fountain in the world. That thing are right next to Suntec City Mall. We just take a lazy stroll walk around the place, there's nothing to buy anyway since we dirt poor. And then, we decide to grab our dinner at Geylang...so another long walk from Suntec City to City Hall MRT interchange. It's quite interesting walk actually since from the walkway to the station is actually CityLink shopping mall! They turned it into a god damn 1 floor shopping mall! Oh, there's where HMV located...grabbed a snack to hold me before dinner.

Geylang...finally we got to see some Malays...most of the time we could only see Chinese or ultra modern Malays. And Malay food of course. You can't really find mamak in Singapore...but Geylang offered ample food for both of us. Just not enough chair for everybody which a bummer. After a good dinner, we went back to our hostel where both of us practice few runs for tournament next morning.

part 2 will be uploaded soon...stay tuned!

Dreaming To Sleep @ IU Day, Sekolah Sri Garden, Cheras

This picture is so emo, it kills!
First, kick the dust around the stage
Second, you start to scream
View all 7 photos...
After months slinging my bass alone in my room (and sometimes helping my roomate songs ), I'm back into band status.

Introducing...Dreaming To Sleep (did i get the band's name right? hahahah ). Nothing much to tell you guys except we gonna record a demo soon...hope when it's out, you guys waste some money on us ok . My very thanks to Seng Yip, George, TJ & Micheal for having me as your bassist and also your willingness to accept my lacking knowledge & skills.

It's a bit of irony since...again, i'm in an emo band when i don't actually listen to emo or even liking them. Just like I dun like scoot pple, but hell, i ride one. I guess I just like being ironic.

So this is the story of my first gig with them, happened last Saturday. The place is International Understanding Day at Sekolah Sri Garden located at Taman Maluri, Cheras. Yeah yeah, so it's a school, but who cares? It's been a while so anywhere also fine The gig is kinda early (to my standard la, previously always in late afternoon), soundcheck around 10.30am and we played around 12-ish noon.

Crowd consist of school kids (duh!)...of course, i want to highlights private school chicka's...heheheheh... We kinda fortunate to play around that time since there's still a lot of crowd around. We played 4 songs (and 1 extra clean electric song later on) which were :-

I'm Not Okay - My Chemical Romance
Know Your Enemy - Rage Against The Machine
DTS own song (gomen guys! i forgot the name )
Slither - Velvet Revolver

Thank god, we got fair share of support & claps from the crowd. It's been a while since playing with some crowds...heheheh~

Thanks to the Sri Garden people for having us and your supports. Kudos to other bands that playing that day, you guys were awesome in your own right. What's next for us? Hopefully can get more practice and more gigs...then off to studio! Meanwhile, enjoy the pics taken by my laling fiance'

So apart from meeting up with friends, catching up and few gaming session, I came for this workshop. It's kinda good timing since I'm looking for motivation to play since I lost my band last year.
I guess I already found it
